A stash of good questions and a few ways to ask them — built just for the two of you.

👉 How This Works

This page is a big bank of conversation starters for the two of you, plus a few different ways to use them — for date night, car rides, walks, or for your private couple retreats (special get aways where you can take a bit more time with this, especially the “Write & Share”). Pick whatever sounds good and go.

👉 Three Ways to Talk

Walk & Talk

Go for a walk, a drive, or knock out a chore side by side. One of you picks and asks a question. After the answer, the other can mirror it back and ask for clarification, which sounds like this: "So what I hear you saying is . Could you tell me more about when you said ___?" After a little clarification, switch and start again. Note: This also works while listening to an uplifting podcast or audiobook together — pause when something sparks a thought or question.

Write & Share

Grab notebooks (or note apps). Both of you write on the same question for a few minutes, then trade notebooks and read — or just read your own out loud. The key here is asking for more: "Tell me more about what you meant when you wrote (or said) ___?"

Face to Face

The quick version — at the table, in the car, before bed. Pick one question from the Face to Face category below. Each one comes with its own format built right in — sentence completion, interview style, or back-and-forth — just follow it as written. Take as much or as little time as you'd like.

Just the Two of You

Pick who goes first — that's the order you'll go in.

  1. Pick a category (i.e., "Connection," "What's True," etc.)
  2. Pick a question from that category — or ask Siri/Google, "Pick a number between 1 and ___" (however many questions are in that category).
  3. Ask your partner that question. They answer, then it's their turn — they pick a category, pick a question, and ask you.

Keep going back and forth. Either of you can pass on a question, or say, "Can I get an easier one? Or one in a different category?" — no explanation needed.

👉 Guidelines & Suggestions

  1. ⏳ Best to keep these chats shorter — 10 to 20 minutes. This keeps it fun instead of turning it into a chore. But if you're on a roll, just try to end before the sun rises.
  2. 🪂 Either of you can pass on a question or ask for a different one — no explanation required.
